1st Semi Final – Pak vs SL
Pakistan’s victory over Sri Lanka A by 60 runs in the semi-final of the Emerging Asia Cup secures their spot in the final. The final match on Sunday will see Pakistan Shaheens competing against the winner of the second semi-final match, which will be played between India A and Bangladesh A.
Pakistan Shaheens won the toss and batted first in the first semi-final at P Sara Oval on Friday and were bowled out for 322 in 50 overs, with Umeer bin Yousuf’s 88 and captain Mohammad Haris’ 52 being the highlights.
Sri Lanka A team was bowled out for 262 runs. Arshad Iqbal took 5 wickets for 37 runs. Saeem Ayub and Sahibzada Farhan opened the innings for Pakistan Shaheens, but they were dismissed with 22 and 12 runs respectively.
Umeer bin Yousaf played responsibly and scored 88 runs off 79 balls, including 1 six and 10 fours. The partnership between captain Muhammad Haris and Mubasher Khan for the sixth wicket, which yielded 73 runs, proved to be beneficial for the team.
Mohammad Haris scored 52 runs off 43 balls, including 5 fours. Mubaser Khan scored 42 runs with 2 sixes and 2 fours. Mohammad Wasim Jr played an innings of 24 runs with 2 sixes and 1 four.
Sri Lanka A’s bowlers, Lahiru Samarakun and Chamika Karunaratne, both took 2 wickets each.
Sri Lanka A had lost 3 wickets for 33 runs when the opening batsmen, Oshka Fernando and Sahan Arachige, formed a partnership and added 124 runs for the fourth wicket.
Oshka Fernando scored 97 runs, including 12 fours and 2 sixes, before being stumped by Haris off Sufyan Moqim’s delivery. Similarly, Sahan Arachige fell short of his first century in List A ODI matches by just 3 runs. He also scored 97 runs, with 12 fours and 1 six, before being bowled by Mubaser Khan.
During the Pakistan match, Arshad Iqbal demonstrated exceptional skill by amassing a remarkable total of 5 wickets, while Mubaser Khan and Sufian Muqim admirably contributed to the team’s success with 2 wickets apiece.
2nd Semi Final – Ind vs Ban
India A emerged victorious in the second semi-final of the Asian Cricket Association Men’s Emerging Asia Cup, defeating Bangladesh A by a margin of 51 runs. The final match of the tournament will take place between the formidable teams of Pakistan and India on Sunday, July 23, 2023.
In the match played in Colombo, India A team batted first and scored 211 runs, Yash Dhal scored 66 runs and Abhishek Sharma played an innings of 34 runs.
Mehdi Hasan, Rasghan Hasan and Rakitul Hasan of Bangladesh took 2 wickets each. Chasing an easy target of 212 runs, Bangladesh A team were bowled out for 160 runs in 35 overs.
