AJK Local Body Elections 2022 – Candidates Detail
The Election Commission of Azad Jammu and Kashmir has released the details of the number of candidates for the Local Government Elections 2022 after withdrawal/retirement and unopposed election.
According to the spokesperson of Azad Jammu and Kashmir Election Commission, 42 candidates have been elected unopposed while a total of 10556 candidates are contesting.
A total of 1825 candidates are contesting on District Council seats, 7275 on Union Council seats, 275 on Town Committee seats, 381 on Municipal Committee and 800 Municipal Corporation candidates.
A total of 529 candidates are contesting from Neelam district, 544 from Jhelum Valley, 1643 from Muzaffarabad, 1249 from Bagh, 880 from Sidhnoti, 372 from Haveli Kahota, 1082 from Poonch, 2131 from Kotli, 1024 from Mirpur, 1102 from Bhimbar.
16 candidates from Kotli district, 15 from Muzaffarabad, 4 from Jhelum Valley, 3 from Mirpur, and one each from Haveli Kahota and Neelum were elected unopposed.
Among them, 38 candidates were elected for union council seats, 2 candidates from town committees, one candidate from the municipal committee, and one candidate from the municipal.
Elected unopposed from the Corporation.
Neelam Valley District
In Neelam District, there are 83 candidates for District Council, 422 for Union Council, 15 for Town Committee, and 9 for Municipal Committee.
Jhelum Valley District
There are 101 candidates for the member district council, 422 candidates for union council, 8 candidates for town committee, 13 candidates for municipal committee member in the Jhelum Valley district.
Muzaffarabad District
In Muzaffarabad District, there are 274 candidates for District Council seats, 1078 for Union Council, 54 for Town Committee, 21 for Municipal Committee, 216 for Municipal Corporation.
Bagh District
There are 225 candidates for District Council member, 905 Union Council, 26 Town Committee, and 93 Municipal Corporation candidates in District Bagh.
Sidhnoti District
There are 144 candidates for district council members, 632 for union council, 54 for town committee, and 50 for the municipal committee in District Haveli Kahota,
Haveli Kahota District
there are 61 candidates for District Council seats, 302 Union Council seats, and 9 candidates for Municipal Committee seats.
Poonch District
There are 150 candidates for District Council seats, 659 for Union Council, 74 for Town Committee, 30 for Municipal Committee, 169 for Municipal Corporation in Poonch district.
Kotli District
There are 430 candidates for district council seats, 1553 union council seats, 15 town committee seats, 47 municipal committee seats and 86 candidates for municipal corporation seats in Kotli district.
Mirpur District
There are 143 candidates for District Council seats, 510 Union Council seats, 135 Municipal Committee seats, 236 candidates for Municipal Corporation seats in the Mirpur district.
Bhimber District
There are 214 candidates for district council seats, 792 for union council, 29 for town committee, 67 for municipal committee seats in Bhimbar district.
