Pay Scale Revision 2017 – Is PMLN Winning Hearts of Govt Employees?

Yesterday finance minister of Pakistan Muhammad Ishaq Dar presented annual budget 2017-18. This was fifth fiscal budget of the the current federal ruling party of Pakistan Muslim Muslim League Nawaz (PMLN). Prime minister of Pakistan Mian Muhammad Nawaz Sharif was present in the parliament house along  with his ministers and MNAs. While his close rival the chief of PTI Mr. Imran Ahmad Khan Niazi was absent that day as usual.

Budget 2017-2018 and Government Employees Expectations

Employees working in public sector departments are key members of any Government. They are hands and feet of the government machinery. If they will work properly, then the business of the Government and whole country will operate smoothly. That is whey every government try to provide satisfaction to its employees. Financial benefits play a vital role.

Before the Presentation of Budget

Every year before the presentation of budget, the Government employees became active. They started to gave the demands in front of higher ups. They organized protests, hunger strikes, token strikes and processions in this regard. One of the big employees organization is APCA. All Pakistan Clerks Association and other employees unions demanded various demands to the Government. They were demanding increase in Pay and Pension from 20% to 50% minimum.

What is in the Budget for Public Servants?

Yesterday Finance minister while addressing announced number of steps in favor of Govt. employees. In his speech which telecasting live on all TV channels and Broadcasting live on Radio stations, He told that:-

1- Revised Basic Pay Scales 2017 – After merging the two big adhoc allowances of the years 2009 and 2010. The Finance division will issue new revised pay scale after the approval of budget proposals.

2- Inclusion of latest Adhoc Relief Allowance 2017 in the salaries of the employees. The rate of the adhoc allowance will be @10percent of current basic pay fixed after the proposed pay scales 2017.

3- Special Allowance for the Army men and Army officers. This will given to all soldiers of the Pakistan armed forces. The rate of allowance will be 10% of the basic pay.

4- Increase in Pension of all pensioners of federal government pensioners. The rate of raised pension will be 10% f the total drawn pension of the retied employees.

5- Exemption of deduction of 5% house rent of the government employees working from BPS-1 to BPS-5. It they are enjoying Government house or flats.
