The Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education was established under the Punjab Boards of Intermediate & Secondary Education Act 1976 and its jurisdiction was notified on 14th October, 1982.

whereas it started its functions by conducting its first secondary school (Supplementary) in 1983.

The jurisdiction of Gujranwala Board:-
Jurisdiction of the Gujranwala Board includes following districts:

1. Gujranwala district.

2. Gujrat district.

3. Mandi Baha-ud-Din district.

4. Hafizabad district.

5. Narowal district.

6. Sialkot district.

The above mentioned districts are under the jurisdiction of Board of intermediate and secondary education Gujranwala. The students belonging to these areas have to apply for their Matric or Intermediate level examinations to BISE Gujranwala.

The main Services of the Gujranwala Boards are as under:-

Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education conducts Matric / ssc (ssc Part 1 and ssc Part 2) class exams and Intermediate/Hssc (Hssc Part I and Hssc Part II) exams every year. A great number of students participate in these exams every year. The exams mostly started in the month of March and ends April while the results of BISE Faisalabad announced in the month of July and August. The matric result usually announced in July while the inter result announced in the end of August or the start of September. Results of all the classes are also published on the BISE website. On the days when the results of ssc Part 2 and Hssc part 2 class are announced, there is a ceremony at the Board office where medals and other awards are given to the position holder students.
